Embracing Cheerful Pessimism: A Philosophy for Everyday Life
Alain de Botton sums it up: “I am advocating a philosophy of cheerful pessimism.” Translation? Life is messy, unfair, and often ridiculous, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be enjoyable.
Welcome!
An introvert’s journey to find inner peace in this chaotic world, embracing solitude and seeking to share insights that may help others discover their own peaceful path. Hello Solitude is for all the lone wolves, introverts, and anyone craving a little more peace and quiet in their lives. I’m here to debunk the myths about solitude, cater to those who thrive in their own company, and share tips, stories, and a good dose of ‘me time’ wisdom.
Hey there!
I’m an introvert by nature who thrives on peace and quiet. Not the shy type though – I’m more of an observer, a people-watcher. It doesn’t take me long to figure out what makes someone tick. Small talk? No thanks, I prefer conversations with more depth than my shower.
I’m all about that water life – whether it’s a leisurely walk on the beach or a nice dip in the pool. I’m always up for discovering new places to add to my ever-growing ‘one day’ list, but I’m just as content spending time in full-on hermit mode.
Living with chronic Fibromyalgia and all its delightful side effects and associated syndromes, but I don’t let them define me. I learn’t that I am going to be living with the symptoms regardless, so why not endure them on the beach or immersed in a rainforest on the ‘good’ days, right?
My ultimate dream? My own hideaway home nestled in nature, complete with my dogs. Oh, to have glass doors that open onto a sprawling deck with a hot tub, and a lush yard with a pool. A place where the neighbours are as elusive as a winning lottery ticket!
Alain de Botton sums it up: “I am advocating a philosophy of cheerful pessimism.” Translation? Life is messy, unfair, and often ridiculous, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be enjoyable.
Creating a personal ‘bubble’ helps you set boundaries, focus on what matters, and protect your mental health so you can thrive, not just survive. A bubble that acts as a support system, not a hiding place.
In a world that craves validation, keeping your goals private helps maintain motivation and focus. Shielding your aspirations from unsolicited feedback and comparisons preserves your drive and heightens the excitement of achieving your dreams.
